I
have practiced law in the metropolitan Twin Cities of Minneapolis and
Saint Paul, Minnesota, for the past 27 years. Business and
commercial litigation has been my focus, including:
»
trade secrets and unfair competition;
» patent, copyright, and trademark infringement;
» software development, licensing, and acquisition;
» antitrust and trade regulation;
» securities and shareholders’ rights;
» fidelity and directors’ and officers’ liability and insurance;
» employment law;
» banking and bank regulation;
» commercial paper and creditors’ rights and remedies.
I have tried cases before state and federal courts and
arbitration panels in many jurisdictions and handled appeals in
numerous
state and federal appellate courts.
I
have also served as an adjunct professor at the William Mitchell
College of
Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, where I taught a class on Negotiable
Instruments that covered Articles 3 and 4 of the UCC, wire transfers,
and related Federal Reserve operating letters.
I received my B.A. degree summa cum
laude in 1973 from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota,
and my J.D. degree cum laude in
1976 from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I was an
Editor and Senior Editor of the Harvard
Law Review. From 1976 to 1977, I was a law clerk to Judge
Myron H. Bright of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth
Circuit.
In
the future, I plan to add to this web site notes and articles on legal
subjects of interest to me, so check back from time to time.
